Sir,

We have read with great interest the article by Jazieh et al.,[1] and we have to congratulate them for their excellent work. The aim of our brief comment is to highlight the significance of molecular detection of isolated tumor cell in the bone marrow. This is highly associated with two findings, poor overall survival (OS) and an increased risk of disease recurrence.[2] It has to be mentioned that the presence of bone marrow micrometastasis in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is not associated with pathological types and tumor staging. Occult bone marrow invasion may represent a new prognostic marker in NSCLC and may help oncologists for the selection of patients for adjuvant therapy following surgery, or to avoid unnecessary operations.
